taco turns 2!

two, dos, dalawa...no matter how you say it, i can't believe the little man is already two! we had a stellar birthday weekend. i picked up the boys and jala1 early and we went to the local toddler pool. montlake terrace is the mac daddy of all the local pools and well worth the short drive beyond the city limits. the kiddie area is packed with all sorts of fountains and rainfalls and is just deep enough for taco to walk across. 45 minutes in the water had him chattering but desperate for more pooltime. only promises of dinner w/ tito aj were enough to lure him out of the pool. we met up w/ aj at toyoda's. always a crapshoot how well the kids are going to behave in any restaurant. fortunately, the restaurant gods were with us and we got a table right away. taco dove into his noodle salad and miso w/ a flourish and kept packing away the sushi until the piece de resistance showed up - green tea tempura ice cream. yom yom. they let him pull the whistle at the train shop on the way home and we rounded out his big day w/ his big gift...a thomas train!

we spent the next day in oly w the grandparents. lola hosted a feast for family friends, all bearing birthday prayers and wishes for our big boy. taco received so many lovely presents falling into one of 3 categories - jammies, cash and monster trucks.

sunday was a lovely day to sit on the lawn at little lola's house (or "little grandma" as taco dubbed her). the babes wandered about the garden while we adults lazed in the sun, noshing on sweet potato cake and fat tire. the extra special treat was a visit lola's daddy at the fire station. taco was in awe of the fire trucks and the firefighters. many thanks to wyatt, robin and lola for such a special family outing!
